Born in New York City and raised in France, Germany and South Korea, Kathi Diamant has been a San Diego resident since 1983. An award-winning author, actress and broadcaster, she is also adjunct professor at SDSU as director of the Kafka Project, the official search to recover the missing writings of Franz Kafka. From 1983 until 1990, she co-hosted "Sun Up San Diego" on KFMB-TV, winning an Emmy as "Best Performer" in 1985. Kathi's current position is anchor for KPBS-TV and producer/host of "San Diego Treasures."
Her first book, KAFKA'S LAST LOVE: The Mystery of Dora Diamant," a biography based on almost two decades of immersion research, was published in 2003 in the US and UK. Released in Spain in 2005, Chinese and French translations are scheduled for 2007. "Kafka's Last Love" was the recipient of Theodore Geisel Award, the "Best of the Best" at the 2004 San Diego Book Awards, and was selected by the Irish Times as one of the "Best Biographies of 2003."
A frequent contributor to the San Diego Union-Tribune, Copley News Service and ZOONOOZ, Ms. Diamant has written hundreds of articles on travel, arts and culture. Kathi's original goal was to be an actress, and she received a BA in Theatre from Florida State University. She earned her Equity card in 1988, and continues to perform in benefit performances. She recently created the lead role at the Fritz Blitz in "Munched," which won a Patte Award for "Best New Play of 2005
